Welcome to the Hillbilly Farms Book Club. I am your host Mr Nickerson. The first book we will be discussing is Sgt. Reckless: America's War Horse by Robin Hutton. So everyone get started reading. I look forward to our discussion.

Now that everone has had a chance to read the book, let's start the discussion. Sgt Reckless was a remarkable horse. She embodied the best qualities of horses AND marines: courage, strength, and endurance. I think the author said it best when she wrote: "She was no mascot. Reckless was the real deal--an actual combat Marine."

I learned a lot from this book. One lesson is that if you are awesome you can misbehave and people laugh at your "antics", like when she demolished the horseshoer's hut.

Watchin' Movies with The Silkies
Justin Morgan Had a Horse is a movie about a horse named Figure who invented the Morgan horse breed. Figure was a little horse who was good at a lot of things. In this movie we learned that if you work hard you will get worked hard.

I too am good at many things. I probably inherited that from Figure. Figure is my great x16 grandfather! We have learned a lot about human training in the intervening generations that ensures that humans work harder than we do! -

I was once threatened with a Halloween costume where I would have had to wear a pantsuit. Someone came up with the idea of us horses doing a group Charlie's Angels costume, with me as Sabrina, Jigger as Jill, and Rupert as Kelly. Fortunately the prospect of sewing a large horse-sized pantsuit was an insurmountable hurdle, so it never happened (so no photos!). -
